Batteries Not Included

Batteries Not Included

This Christmas Aubrey got a Lite Brite as a gift.  We opened it up and unpacked all the little multicolor pegs, which I’m sure we will only have half of by the end of the month, and we set up the board.  As I looked over the box I see those dreaded words, “Batteries Not Included”.  My explanation to Aubrey was without regard and she insisted we play with it.  We sat there for a while putting the pegs in and taking them out, in no particular design or picture, just placing them in various spots.  How much cooler would this be if we just had three AA batteries?!
The other day Emily got some batteries from the store and I was installing them into the back panel.  In the process a vision of Aubrey and I making a design came into my head and the look on her face when I would turn on the light for the first time.  The designs can be really great, but when it is lit up, it is so much more magnificent.  The full functioning of its intended purpose is not accomplished without the batteries.
In the beginning of creation man decided he wanted to be in control of his own life and disobeyed God.  From that point on, our Creator, our Designer, the one whose image we have been made in the likeness of, became separated from us.  The disobedience of man, the sin that was committed, left us without our Creator.  From that point on every human being bore the label, “Batteries Not Included”.
When you look out in the world, there are beautiful people, there are loving people, there are smart people and there are talented people, so many wonderful designs of humanity out there.  Still we ALL walk around with the label, “Batteries Not Included”.  Thankfully the power of the light that was meant to shine through all of us does not require a purchase or even a drive to the store.  Reconciliation with our Creator is available to all, and that is the power that provides the light.
God sent His son to walk in the way of all humanity and Jesus did that without falling into sin, as we all eventually do.  Fully God and fully man, Jesus Christ came to teach, preach and minister to all, sharing about the kingdom of Heaven, about out reconciliation with God.  The book of Romans says, “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  The life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was the atonement for that which separates us from God, He plunged into death which binds the sinner and broke free with his perfection.  He paved the way back to God so that should we decide to follow Him we might find our way back to.  We might find the light that we were meant to shine.
You are beautiful, you are amazing, and you are magnificent.  With the light of God, the light that you were meant to shine, the light that is obtain through Jesus Christ, you are complete in the brilliant creation that you were intended to be.  Ask Jesus into your life today by confessing him Lord and Savior of your life and let your life shine!
